There’s only so much Netflix and video games you can binge on when in lockdown before your body (and brain) start getting lethargic and stiff. That’s where good ol’ table tennis (whiff-whaff) comes in handy, along with other indoor exercises of course. It’s not only a good way to pass time, but also an excellent way to keep your body and brain active.
If you’re looking to venture into table tennis, you probably know that you need some paddles, a nice table, a net and some balls, don’t you? Talking of paddles, in particular, you will find that they’re quite expensive (the good ones, anyway) and break easily. Hence, proper storage is key to maintaining their usability. To that effect, it is always advisable to invest in some quality cases for all your ping pong paddles.
In this post, we will highlight some of the best ping pong paddle cases in the market today. Our best overall is the Butterfly Yasyo DX Case ,closely followed by the Butterfly BD Tour Case. But before that, here’s a quick buying guide to help you navigate the markets better.

Choosing the Right Ping Pong paddle Case
The kind of case you buy should be in line with your playing habits and general needs, otherwise it will just be a waste of money. Obviously, different people will be looking for different things, but there are some essential factors everyone needs to consider, including:
Price
– As with almost everything else in life, the more a case costs, the higher its quality. However, there are still some great budget cases that can do the job, some of which we’ve included in the list.
Handle
– Ideally, if you plan to buy a bigger case, you should go for one with a handle. However, smaller cases don’t need a handle, since you can easily carry them around.
Brand
– It is always recommended that you buy paddle cases, and generally all gaming equipment, from well known and popular brands as they’re more likely to be of higher quality.
Texture
– If you are always moving around with your rackets, it would be better if you got an adequately hard storage case to mitigate the effects of the inevitable falls and knocks. If, however, your paddles are mostly stored in your room, a simple (and cheaper) soft case would be enough to protect them from moisture and dust; the only threats.
Top 9 Ping Pong Paddle Carrying Case Review (2020)
1. Best Overall Case - Butterfly Yasyo DX Case
Butterfly are undoubtedly one of the main pillars of table tennis (and tennis in general). The name is synonymous with everything ping pong, from tables to nets to footwear and now bat cases.
The Case is arguably the best of the Butterfly cases, as can be seen by its higher price tag. The fact that the case has the oft-loathed edges, is almost (almost!) forgotten when you consider the fact that it can hold two rackets, and is made from ultra-durable and easy to clean material (Polyester 420D). A tray divider bisects the storage space into two main parts, (both for the paddles) with some additional auxiliary storage for 4 balls. Another small pouch, ostensibly for smaller accessories, is slotted at the back.
In regards to appearance, the Double case comes in either Grey/Black or Green/Black hues. It is also slightly larger than the ordinary single case and has a carry loop for portability purposes.
Sounds good,right?

- Material: Polyester
- Color: Comes in a wide range of colors, including green and grey

2. Overall Runner Up - Butterfly BD Tour Case
The BD Tour Case is one of several Butterfly Inc’s contribution to the low-end market. It has an edgy rectangular shape, and a dark black color scheme which is adorned by either a blue, yellow, pink or grey badge on the center-left.
As the name suggests, the BD Tour Case is meant for constantly traveling players and has a carry loop, and a lightweight feel to match. It can carry two rackets – each on its own compartment, and up to four balls. Further, there’s a handle notch for each racket meant to prevent unnecessary movements that may inadvertently lead to damage. Additional storage comes in the form of a medium-sized accessory pouch on the inner side.
The case is made from heavy-duty nylon that, although not exactly fortified, can effectively protect the bats inside from common dangers, particularly dust and moisture. Matter of fact, the panels on the front and back sides are heavier padded to mitigate the effects of falls on the rackets.
Specifications
- Material: Nylon
- Color: Rose, silver, yellow and blue
- Shape: Rectangle

3. Best Mid Range Case - Eastfield Original Table Tennis Racket Case
It may not be as popular a brand as the others listed here, but Eastfield Inc actually delivers when it comes to racket cases. The Eastfield Original Table Tennis Racket case is easily the best mid-range case in the market right now. It has a classy, nostalgic British look to it, especially accentuated by the faux leather exterior, zip enclosure and the mild, classic Eastfield logo. The dull color schemes – black, grey and navy blue – further add another dimension to the vintage feel.
Now, here is the best part…
The case comes in two versions; Double and Single. Both these have the same features, except for the number of bats they can store. Both these versions are also relatively light and very spacious, and can also fit several balls. What more, the Double version has a distinct, well-cushioned compartment for each paddle, designed to keep the rackets from rubbing against each other, which can lead to damage.

- Material: leather
- Shape: Rectangular
- Color: Black, grey and navy blue

4. Best Budget Case - Donic Persson Single Bat Cover
From personal experience, quality is not always expensive or rather, doesn’t have to be expensive. This Single Bat Cover from German-based tennis juggernaut Donic is proof of that. It is, in simple terms, the best bat case you can find with less than 15 bucks.
The case is aptly named after Swedish table tennis ace, Jorgen Persson, who’s also one of the finest players the sport has ever seen, having won an exemplary five World Championships. The case is all purple, with some white details, which is a surprise, since one would expect it to be in blue, one of the national colors of Sweden. Nonetheless, it is to Donic’s credit that they managed to incorporate the purple so well that it looks even better than their more expensive models.
The Persson Single Bat cover can hold only one bat, but has a small pouch on the outside, which can carry 3 balls. Both the racket and ball compartments are extra padded to give maximum protection during storage and transit. The case is made from durable PVC that, coupled with the fortified inner lining, provides absolute protection against moisture, dust and breakage. But most importantly, it has a modern oval shape that automatically makes you look cool to your playmates when you pull up with it under your pits.

- Material: PVC
- Color: Purple/white
- Shape: Oval

5. Second Best Budget Case - Yasaka Bat Wallet Tima
In all fairness, not everyone wants a fancy racket case. This is especially true for casual players who don’t travel a lot with their bats, and who’s only requirement for a case is spaciousness. If you’re one of those, you may want to check out the Yasaka Bat Wallet Tima.
This dirt-cheap case is the main racket case model by the Japanese company and is primarily designed for amateur ping pong players. It is made of polyester, holds only one bat, and can also hold a few balls. As you would expect, it is a bit smaller than your average case, which can either be a good or bad thing, depending on individual tastes. For the positive side, the small size makes the Wallet Tima easy to carry around, even in the absence of a carry loop or strap.

- Material: Polyester
- Color: Black, yellow or white
- Shape: Rectangle

6. Best Durable Case - Butterfly Poltieh Hard Case
The Poltieh Hard Case is one of Butterfly’s most expensive models and one that was definitely made for the pros and casuals who are always on the move. And to be quite honest with you, the price is definitely justified.
The first notable thing about the case is its super hard outer shell that is designed to fully cushion the racket, balls and other accessories inside from any damage, whether from moisture or falls. The shell also lasts for years, even when exposed to relatively tough conditions.
Inside the shell, the storage space is large enough and well-padded with an elastic strap to hold the racket in place. An encompassing mesh lining coats the entire interior while a small side netting on the side acts as an accessory store. A zipper closure takes care of the ins and outs.
The Poltier Hard Case has the ideal oval design and comes in 5 colors, namely; black, pink, orange, blue and green. A very conspicuous Butterfly logo takes up most of the outer part, which some may consider a bit tacky – but hey, it’s Butterfly, the coolest name in the game. For portability purposes there’s an adjustable carry loop that can fit in all types of hands and wrists.

- Color: Blue, green, orange, pink, black and pink

7. Best Premium Case - Stiga Aluminum Hard Case
This is another extra hard case that is not only designed to offer the best protection to your rack, but also to also last for eternity – figuratively speaking. If you know a thing or two about ping pong, you would know that Stiga is one of the best quality in equipment and in sportswear. In this case, however, they outdid both themselves and the other bigger names to have the most premium case on the list.
As the name suggests, the Stiga Aluminum Hard Case is made from heavy-duty stainless aluminum designed to offer the full range of coverage. The hard and durable exterior is complemented by soft interior padding to keep the racket and other accessories safe and secure even under the most chaotic circumstances. Additional safety is provided by a foolproof, but simple metallic lock system as opposed to the traditional zipper.
To cap it all…
The case is surprisingly lightweight and small in size, and can only fit one paddle and 3 balls.

- Material: Made from heavy-duty aluminum
- Shape: Rectangular
- Color: black

8. Best Classy Case - Killerspin Optima Case
If you often have no time to get to your house after work and instead rush to your ping pong practice, this particular bag would fit you to a T. While the rest of the other cases have a predominantly sporty look to them, the Optima Case from Killerspin would not look out of place on an office table. Matter of fact, it looks more like a laptop bag than a bat case, starting with the rectangular shape, to the gray, polyester denim design and external pockets.
The bag can hold a maximum of 2 paddles and a similar number of balls. Elastic and velcro straps to secure the assorted items in place are provided, and so is stocky foam padding, which essentially protects against breakages from poor handling and falls.
To complete the amazing array of features is a side pocket designed specifically to hold electronic gadgets, from phones to tablets and watches that don’t exceed 8″ in width. Notably, there’s no carry loop but the bag is small and light enough to fit under the arms.

- Material: polyester
- Color: Denim
- Shape: Rectangle

9. Best Gifting Experience - Killerspin Memory Book
The Killerspin Memory Book is not your ordinary racket carrier – it is a special case designed with memory preservation in mind. In addition to the paddle storage space – for one paddle – the Memory Book case contains diaryesque signature and comment lines where you can put signatures, scores and note down memories of your friends, teammates, colleagues or family and subsequently preserve them, along with a special paddle, for eternity.
Do you want to learn more? I guess you do…..
The case is made from pure leather and is only available in black, the unofficial color of nostalgia. The design is also superb, with the rich black scheme covering most of the book save for center, where a small Killerspin logo and a straight white line appear. The thick leather shell also works to keep both the notes and paddles inside from liquid and physical damage.

- Material: leather
- Color: Black
- Shape: Rectangle

Final Verdict
The main reason why you need to always store your paddles in cases, as said earlier, is to prevent damage from various elements. However, paddle cases also have additional benefits, including:
- Keeping Your Paddles Clean – Unchecked accumulation of dirt residue on a paddle’s rubber parts can make it less tacky, or sticky, which can affect its performance (primarily the spin). Locking all your paddles up in a case as soon as you’re done using them helps keep them dry and dust-free, and consequently, maintains their performance.
- Convenience – If you have more than two bats, it may be a bit inconveniencing to gather them together and carry them to different locations. It gets much easier when all you do is throw them inside the case and strap it on your back.
- Offer protection – You don’t need to be a ping pong pro to know that water degrades both the rubber coating and wooden core of the bat over a long time. Direct exposure to sunlight will also have a similar effect on both materials. Keeping your paddles in the case at all times helps keep them safe from the damaging effects of these two elements.
- Easy Storage – Storing your bats in a case makes it easy for you to find a particular bat when you need it, as opposed to just throwing them around your room. It also makes your room more tidy and clean.
Notably, there are lots of brands selling racket cases, and if you are inexperienced, all the flashy adverts can fool you into making the wrong choices. The good news is that this doesn’t have to be you!
Before you even start looking at the features and all that, you need to first have a clue as to why exactly you need a case. The process of selecting and buying a table tennis bat case all boils down to personal preference and needs. We tried as we could to include something for everyone – casuals, intermediates and pros – and we do hope that you’ll find a suitable case after reading this review.
If you’re still stuck, we would strongly recommend going with our top choice, the Butterfly Yasyo DX Case. It is not only a strong and exceptionally durable case, but it is also considerably convenient, as it can hold up to 2 rackets and 4 balls and is also very easy to carry around.
So, can you really afford not to buy this case? I guess not
